2nd Chance Checking Account

With the 2nd Chance Checking program you will be eligible to reopen a checking account with the Meadville Area Federal Credit Union to prove to us it was just a mistake. Terms and Conditions

The 2nd Chance Checking account is subject to the terms and conditions in the checking account agreement and any other terms and conditions the Credit Union establishes from time to time.The terms and conditions for the Second Chance Checking Account are:

  • 12 month 2nd Chance Checking Account program enrollment due to previous unsatisfactory checking account performance, whether at the credit union or elsewhere. This is verified through an account verification service.
  • At the conclusion of the 12 month period, if the member has maintained a satisfactory checking account record, the member will have the ability to convert to a regular checking account. It will be the responsibility of the member to notify the credit union of the completion of the 12 month period.
  • A $35.00 deposit to be secured in the regular share savings account as a good faith gesture of intent to maintain a satisfactory checking account.
  • The member will NOT be eligible for a debit card during the period in which they are enrolled in the 2nd Chance Checking Account program.
  • The 2nd Chance Checking Account will NOT earn dividends until the end of the 12 month period and review for satisfactory checking account performance. A $5.00 service fee will be debited from the account monthly.
  • An understanding that the first Non-Sufficient Fund occurrence will result in the permanent closure of the checking account with no option to re-establish the account. Any Non-Sufficient Funds occurrence also has a fee of $35.00 associated per item.
  • $15.00 for each stop payment issued. This fee is $20.00 for a sequential block of items (2 or more).
  • $2.00 for a Draft Inquiry Fee (members request for cleared check information)
  • $1.00 for every six counter checks
  • $10.00 for each overdraft
